Sydney Table - March 2007

This is by far the best fried chicken in the world. Period. Not that I'm an authority, but seriously, there's no competition.

Unfortunately there's just one hitch. It's in Bangkok.

Anyway, the place is called Soi Polo Fried Chicken, (here's another good review) and they also do mean Isaan specialties. Like som tum, and yum plaa duk fuu, deep fried catfish shards with green mango salad. Recipe here.

But obviously the best thing here is the fried chicken, and that delectable topping, crisp fried garlic. Mmmmmm. It's so juicy, with crispy fatty skin, fantastic. And two good chilli sauces to go with it, a clear sweet one, and a dark thick salty one. Pour some on your sticky rice. You did order sticky rice, didn't you?

If you make it to Bangkok, make sure you eat here. It's one of the best restaurants in the city.

137/1-2 Soi Polo (near Lumphini Park and the Suan Lum Night Bazaar)

Cafe Q Burger

The burgers at Cafe Q are really really good! That's the general gist here. The beef especially, a really savoury tasty pattie, house made with capsicum and tomato in it, is fantastic. In a buger with salty grilled eggplant, tomato and lettuce, ricotta, and pesto. The pesto really makes it. I can't stress this enough, eat this burger!
In fact, I'm starting to get the feeling that almost everything at Cafe Q is really delicious...
