Dine in the forests at Cafe Saligna
March 14th 2008 06:10
This small day time cafe is in the middle of a forest.
Serious. And it's in the Greater Sydney distinct of The Hills.
Cafe Saligna is at the Information Centre of the State Cumberland Forest in West Pennant Hills. It's easy to find if you know where to look, but if you are looking for clear signages to the cafe, you may just find yourself turning in circles in West Pennant Hills.
However, once found, the cafe is a small oasis from the hustle and bustle city life. My relationship with the cafe is intense, as my office is just around the corner. Often at lunch time when I need a quiet place to gather my thoughts, it's the first place I think of.
The cafe servces light and ful breakfast until 11am and has reasonably good coffee. Of course, having a barista as a sister, I am a little spoilt and judgemental about coffees so you would have to try it out to form your own judgements. The menu then turns into a variety of salads and light meals such as pizzettas and antipastos to suit all tastes. The service is great, although unfortunately the staff turn over is pretty fast so you probably won't get the same waiter each time you go, but sitting there in the shade, surrounded by trees and shrubs listening to bird call all morning or afternoon, I can't think of a better way to relax.
OPEN 7 DAYS 9.30AM - 4PM.
