One thing I miss about the inner west of Sydney (after having moved out of it earlier this year) is the various cuisine culture. You get all sorts of places to eat at in the inner west and most are really good.
Take this little place for example - Petersham Charcoal Chicken. You can get chicken anywhere, but why does this place need a special mention?
Coz it's good.
I am not going to bother going into the usual decor and service talks, as this place is all about the chicken.
The place does chicken Portuguese style, and instead of the fast food likes of Oprtos and Ogalos, it's properly done. You can smell it a mile away on Canterbury Road. While $17 is a little high in price for just a charcoal chicken, it's hard to regret the decision as you dig your teeth in.
The place is small and does not noisy, but if you wanted a romantic dinner date you probably wouldn't impress anyone by taking them to a chicken place anyway. It's a warm affair and to finish the meal off with a bit of that Grandma's Delight dessert makes all just perfect.
