The Quarterdeck Marina, Narooma NSW

After our massive Xmas lunch catering to 15 people, in which I cooked Helen's awesome Grape and Chardonnay Cake for dessert, and another huge afternoon at the neighbors place for Boxing Day, the parents and I decided to have a spoilt day and headed out to Narooma for a walk through the local markets and a yummy lunch on the water.
The markets were ok and mum and I went halves at an antique stall on a bargain cast iron Ginger Meggs money box made in 1938 for $54-. I am going to try and sell it for about $200- if anyone is interested
The lunch was just what the doctor ordered, and even though I was starting to look like the Xmas ham this food was well worth it for a Coastal Town or even a city town for that matter. I suggest if heading down the South Coast of NSW that you have a nice lunch at this bizarre, retro kitsch restaurant. It is basically themed on everything that has ever been in the water shed building. It is something you could imagine on the beach in Hawaii and there are oodles of things to look at on the walls or scattered around the place. There is even a bar in one corner if you want a few beverages.
We only had a main and I scored a dessert because my mummy loves me
For our delish meal mum ate Zesty Lemon Crusted Blue Grenadier served with Chef's salad - and this was the second time in the last month she has gone there and eaten the same dish. Considering my mum is an uber super cook this must be considered praise of the highest order. Mum prefers to cook over going out and for her to regularly visit this place says mountains to me.
Mike and I thought the same thing and both lept at the Salt and Chilli squid, which was quickly deep friend and served with chips and a fresh garden salad with their own very special lemon and lime aioli. This one actually came close to my favourite "salt and pepper squid" from a Thai restaurant in Glebe and both Mike and I raced to see if we could get it all in to mix with three days of Christmas feasting and we conquered just
Then luck would have it that I scored a Citrus Tart although I nearly went the Passionfruit Cheesecake but I just can't say no to lemon tarts
Mike asked for 20 spoons with my cake so the three of us could share. It was scrumptious and I could have managed a second slice - hey the belly was prepped after days of feasting
The only thing that mildly disappointed us was we had to wait too long for the meals to be delivered although with credit and exception to the restaurant it was a packed house and we only got a table because mum rang the place as soon as she got up and booked us a table - cool thing was we got to sit at the open windows overlooking the water.
I thoroughly recommend a visit if in the area. They are open Thurs to Mon for breakfast & lunch or just coffee & cake. Local seafood featured and they also do non seafood meals and some sensational looking tapas. Kids menu to boot. BYO. Located on Riverside Drive, Narooma.
Big thanks to Mum and Mike for a great lunch and an even better Xmas - best one yet.
