Must Visit Restaurants of The World - Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, Maldives
November 9th 2009 09:36
This is a TOTAL MUST VISIT restaurant and is now number 2 on my must visit places right behind El Bulli in Spain. You can dine 16 feet below sea level at Ithaa, the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island’s unique undersea restaurant. Marvel at 270° views of reef and marine life, sip champagne cocktails and sample Maldivian-Western fusion cuisine at this spectacular Maldives venue – the world’s first all-glass, undersea restaurant.
Opened in April 2007, the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant looks just awesome. Known as the first-ever transparent undersea restaurant in the world, the restaurant sits five meters below the sea level of the Indian Ocean. The construction of the restaurant is primarily a T-Cast acrylic roof, which offers a 270 degree panoramic view to its customers The Restaurant has a capacity of fourteen guests, so needless to say it is pretty exclusive. Meals in this fish tank range from 120$ US for hotel guests on a full meal plan, to $250 US for guests who are on a Bed & Breakfast meal plan. The restaurant is located on the Resort Islands of Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort. This resort has twice been voted the best resort in the world.
Reached by a wooden walkway from the nearby over-water Sunset Grill, the $5 million restaurant serves a four-course contemporary fusion Maldivian menu—and the live sea creatures that come to check you out rival anything on your plate. Their signature dish is the Crab tower with thin ciabatta and truffle mayonnaise and Maldivian banana and chili mascarpone with cream with crushed basil. Holy shit - I may have just dripped saliva all over the keyboard while making Homer Simpson noises
Maldives is a country of almost 1,200 islands about 300 miles from the southernmost points of India and Sri Lanka.
So, needless to say, I am looking for a sugar daddy - so who's up for it? I need to go to this resort
It's only about $800 US a night to stay and then $250- per night for my dinner.
